OUR STORY

The Alabaster Box in the Bible is the testimony of a woman who was forgiven of a multitude of sin, who returns with her most precious of possessions, and with tears of love and appreciation, anoints His feet with tears of thankfulness, love, and her most precious of oils.

This is how I’ve felt about my Lord, as He has forgiven the multitude of my sins, and I want to give of my talents back to Him. He has given me a talent with needle and thread and a love of fabrics and creating. In return, I desire to make things that embrace femininity, create beauty, and bring a smile to my Lord.

I’ve been a “seamstress” of sorts for 13 years now, making my own clothing as those for my stepdaughter and husband and countless others. While there’s more modern ways of working, I still choose the older fashioned ways using a straight stitch machine and French seams and occasional bindings to finish off seams. Vintage machines are a love of mine, and I use them for my work, including a 1955 Singer 66 and a 1950’s Singer 401A, and a late 1940’s Elite Deluxe Japanese badged machine (from the post war rebuilding of Japan). I adore hand stitching as well, and you may find stitches put in by hand in some items, especially in applique or in the smaller home decor pieces, such as pumpkins or Christmas items, yo-yos, rosettes, etc. It is good to take a slower pace and enjoy the process.

You may have met me before, as Sunny Patch Cottage. I held that name for many years, starting when our children were very young. They and I have both grown, matured, and for me it was time for a new chapter in the sewing arena, to reflect the testimony of my Lord.
Feel free to join in on this page any time, contact, chat, etc. I’d love to hear from you, how the Lord has touched your heart, etc.
